Last year I performed in Last Night on Earth, which is an annual Fundraising show for Elegy: a Doompunk LARP. And once again I will be performing, and performing A NEW burlesque act at Last Night On Earth 2 this Saturday February 1st at Club 120. There will be short shows every hour, w/ a dance party in between sets. Meryle will be appearing in the Midnight show with Leelando Calrizion & Poison Berry.

The Nightmare Before Stripmas
Halloween! Its our favourite time of year, and what better way to celebrate (other than dressing up and acting like an ass for fun!) than by seeing Rocky Horror Picture Show with a bunch of rowdy weirdos and Excited Mental State Shadow-cast! I was unable to perform with Excited Mental State last weekend, but I’m super stoked to be performing TWICE at the Halloween show October 31st! I’ll be Columbia in the 7pm screening and Rocky in the 10pm screening! So come to the Bloor Cinema and make us your halloween date, OR see the show before hitting your parties! Dress up and be ready to audience participate! NO TOAST OR RICE PLEASE! But you can bring all the cards you want.
Tonight is opening night for Can’t Stand Sitting’s shdowcast production of Nightmare before Christmas! Come down and see Nightmare sung and performed live on stage! I will be performing in the show, which plays 7:30 tonight & tommorow, and 2:30 sunday afternoon at Big Picture Cinema
Last night we shot a special Rocky Horror Shadowcast video over at Big Picture Cinema. I sang Science Fiction Double Feature, while my amazing friends Rena and Vicki Laufer sang and yelled the dirty audience participation lines, the sort of stuff that audience members yell at Midnight Rocky Horror Picture Show screenings. Rena and I are members of the local Rocky Horror Shadow Cast EXCITED MENTAL STATE (why? CAUSE IT’S FUN! and all our friends are in the cast, tee-hee!) and Vicki is a fabulous singer and performer who I am performing with in Nightmare Before Christmas on Oct 25th, 26th, and 27th at Big Picture Cinema, that very same location!
The wonderful Stefan Valent filmed it and is editing it and it should be out by the middle of next week!
enjoy the madness!
Why do we try so hard to run away from our imagination?
It’s a web of brambles and flowers, monsters and wonders, blood and starlight. It is the source of everthing you love, everything that’s ever been made, throughout history, and beyond history. It reflects what we feel. We give it the creeps, not the other way around. It’s just a mirror. What you see, is what you put into it.
Imagination is where the monsters live. It’s where everything EVERYTHING is possible. Anything you could ever think of, and everything you could never possibly imagine lives in there. We talk about our Imagination not our imaginations. Is this because we know it’s the same thing inside all of us? That we are all connected through the creative idea?
We are not alone with imagination. We all die alone but we are not alone, because creation is inside us always. The potential to create new ideas and things, the ability to shape the world around us, it all comes from one place: imagination.
And terror of terrors; Imagination is inside us RIGHT NOW!
We are powerful creatures through imagination. Creation lives in imagination. Some might call that Creation the force God. Some might call it nothing more than the mind of being.
FACT: it is neither, and/or it is both.
So why are we afraid to look inside? Are we that horrifying in there? Have you applied good and bad to your thoughts, and fear the wild, wild freedom of imagination’s in-between status? Do you fear that it might take you somewhere bad? Good! Then use your imagination to create good from that bad. Use your darkness to create beauty. Plainly put: If you are in the bad, make it good.
But instead we just run away. Is it because we don’t realize the rainbow is in there with the mess?
Everything is possible EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE.
Change is a reality we spend every second pulling the yoke on.
And that’s what scares us:
We are the potentiality to become so much more.
- Last weekend I was a performance artist for Inkquisitive on friday, and for Nuit Blance and Tabula Rasa on sat. The peices were similar but opposite, on friday I interacted with gallery patrons with questions only, while dressed in black, and on saturday I interacted with Nuit Blanche attendentes and tried to get them to engage and work with me, while dressed in white.
People’s response to me in character was always stand-off-ish and hesitant, but to my surprise the most closed off people seemed to value the experience and feel changed the most. Which is satisfying in an alienating way.
The main manifesto of Inkquisitive's show was
This was the piece I wrote in response to my expereince.
This Friday I’m involved in this exciting art show SOULED OUT, featuring the art of Inkquisitive. I’m in a performance art peice, not quite sure what I’ll be performing yet, but it’s performance arty and rehearsals are this afternoon. Soooo, it’s gonna be awesome, obviously!
